Interactive Writing rewards continuity: the second answer must extend the first, not restart the topic from zero.
Prepingo reproduces the staged workflow so you can practise planning, writing an initial response, and reacting to a follow-up while preserving one coherent line of thought.

What the Interactive Writing workspace looks like
The task opens with a short preparation countdown and conversational context. After you start, the first response is followed by a related prompt that asks you to deepen, qualify, or apply what you already wrote.
Step-by-step: complete one useful attempt
- Use preparation time to state your main idea in a few mental keywords.
- Start Writing and answer the first prompt with a position, reason, and concrete example.
- Read the follow-up carefully; identify how it changes the task.
- Refer back to the first answer naturally, then add new reasoning instead of repeating it.
- Submit the complete interaction for one combined evaluation.
See the answer stage before submitting
These screens show what the learner actually enters or records. Use them to understand the natural order of the task before you practise under time pressure.
The strategy to practise—not a memorized trick
Practise maintaining a thread across two prompts. This is closer to academic discussion than two isolated essays.
- Leave room in the first response for the idea to develop.
- Use reference phrases such as “This example also shows…” only when the connection is real.
- Answer the follow-up’s command verb: explain, compare, challenge, or propose.
- Keep the second response understandable without copying entire sentences from the first.
The follow-up should make your answer deeper, not merely longer.
How scoring and feedback work in Prepingo
Prepingo assesses the two stages together and highlights development, coherence, vocabulary, and language control. Review whether the feedback concerns the original answer, the follow-up, or the connection between them.
Use Attempt History to prove you are improving
One score is only a snapshot. Open Attempt History above the question to review previous answers, scores, and feedback. Compare the same error category across several attempts: spelling, response development, vocabulary range, pronunciation, comprehension, or time management. Your target is not simply “more questions”; it is fewer repeated mistakes.
Common mistakes to eliminate
- Ignoring the follow-up and repeating the original opinion.
- Spending all preparation time drafting a sentence instead of organizing ideas.
- Adding an unrelated example simply to increase length.
- Changing position without explaining the reason.
Your next 15-minute practice session
- Complete one full two-stage task.
- Summarize the relationship between your answers in one sentence.
- Rewrite the first line of the follow-up to make the connection explicit.
- Record the repeated weakness in Attempt History or your study notes.
Format note: Prepingo is an independent practice platform and is not endorsed by Duolingo. DET formats can change. Use the official DET readiness resources for current certified-test rules, then use Prepingo to build familiarity, repeat targeted skills, and obtain practice feedback.
